Automotive service company betting on area growth

Automotive service company betting on area growth

When he returned to West Michigan in 1997, Bob Cutler could have purchased a company in any number of sectors from an advertising agency to machine shops or a foundry.

But it is somewhat appropriate that this former surgical equipment technician and salesman eventually purchased Muskegon Brake from Bob Scolnik in 1998. A 1972 Reeths Puffer graduate, Cutler came to the automotive service business with an extensive background as a professional off-road rally race driver.

Grabbing a wrench and getting underneath a vehicle is familiar for this business owner as the Porsche rally racing vehicle's rear suspension being rebuilt on his North Muskegon garage floor will attest. Rally racing is a two-person event in which four-wheeled drive vehicles race against the clock in predetermined off-road courses.
